Reverse Paranoia

Have a friend with extreme paranoia, thinks people put stuff in his food, puts strings in locks on doors?

This person had a brother who died of bacterial menengitis 20 years ago and since his brother died has become very angry and paranoid. Keeps everything, pack rat, very suspicious of people putting things in his food, won’t throw anything away. His father left at a young age, mother did what she could but apparently she’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. Is he just hurting and wants closure for his brother’s death or is it possible there’s paranoia, psychosis, or whatever.

He sounds like he is having symptoms of schitzophrenia and should be assessed by a mental health professional
