Supernatural Episode “a Light In The Midst Of Darkness” Pt 13

Before reading this, I recommend that you read “Supernatural Episode “A Light in the Midst of Darkness” Pt 12″, thank you.

Astro is not a space term as you might be thinking. Juvenile actually has to do with youth. This thing was actually festering since I was a young man. I think age brings about all the garbage of the youth. When I was in the hospital I was diagnosed with JPA (Juvenile Pilocytic Astrocytoma) and with hydrocephalus, or water on the brain.

A brain tumor often compresses and displaces normal brain tissue. Some tumors cause a blockage of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) that flows around and through the brain. The blockage increases the pressure inside the skull and enlarges the ventricles (hydrocephalus).

I was diagnosed with 1 of the 120 different types of brain tumors. The World Health Organization (WHO) is the group which has classified all the different types of tumors. Tumors are classified by their cell type, after the Pathologist looks at it under the microscope, and it is given a grade. The grade determines how fast the tumor is planned to reproduce and grow itself. My tumor apparently was slow growing since it was around for approximately 30 years.

Detection of this tumor was only made by having a MRI in the hospital. I did not voluntarily have this by having one scheduled at a local MRI facility.

4 – Emotional affects

This entire incident had its effect in different ways on my entire family. Here are the stories of my wife, oldest daughter and oldest son.

During my hospital stay my wife and children were able to stay with my sister in law. Staying with them was good for my youngest son, Josiah, and his relationship with his aunt and uncle which probably would not have happened otherwise.

My family knew that the Lord would handle it all. The road to this point has not been without its “bumps”, but we were able to “rebound” back.

Points of View

The following is a collection of events and quotes which reflect the emotional impact this event had on my family.

These are some of the comments from my oldest daughter, Kayla, who was eight at the time of the incident:

“I thought I would not have a daddy when I came home”

“I cried a lot”

“I prayed that Jesus would heal him”

At my expense, my oldest son, Jonathan, was able to get a personalized tour of the ambulance and fire truck.

My oldest son gave the following comments. He was six at the time of the incident:

“I remember there were 3 cars which came to the house, a fire truck, an ambulance, and a police car” “The ambulance guy came in with a rolling bed and put a mask on my daddy” “The ambulance guy grabbed my daddy by the arm (around the bicep)” “I got to look inside of the ambulance from behind the truck”

After I, returned home from the second hospital, I had staples down the right side of the top of my head, and on the right side of my head, around 27 in all. These staples were because I had the internal shunt (tube) removed from me. My youngest daughter, Gabriela, who was around three years old at the time said, “don’t worry daddy, Jesus will heal your booboos.” He did do that. Those staples were what I called my zippers. I teach a Sunday school class for 1st and 2nd grade boys, and I am sure this (zipper) made a lasting impression on them. My youngest daughter, Gabriela, also said, “It was scary to see all that red stuff on daddy’s head” These are a few quotes I gleaned from my wife. “He came into our bedroom, talking really funny, with kind of a slurred speech. He was kind of limping, like he did not have strength in his right leg”

My wife prayed for the doctor’s hands before the surgery. She walked the stairs and had to wait 10 hours hearing various negative outcomes about me from the doctors involved. She could hardly believe this was happening to her. My wife had to find a place for the children to stay while she had to go and face the unthinkable.

My wife has written an extraordinary account of her rendition of the story which follows:

“Where can I begin to tell my side of the story? Not just what my husband experienced, but what I experienced myself. I almost lost my husband, my family, and my mind. I will go back in time when we first got married. Life was great nothing could go wrong. I had a wonderful husband, my companion, my best friend. Everything was great then four years later we had our first daughter, Kayla. Then we had Jonathan, Gabriela, and Josiah. When I was pregnant with my third child, Gabriela in 2002, I experienced depression for the first time.

This was a darkness that clouded reality; it was a darkness I experienced in my own mind. No one can understand unless you have been through it. This depression with paranoia and psychosis lasted 10 months all through my pregnancy and then I was back to normal. I would say that was weird, I did not understand what was going on, but I was glad to be out of it. In 2005, around March, I had again another psychotic attack with depression.”
