Medicine Paranoia

medicine paranoia
Whay should I do with 66 year old mother with a mental disease?

My mom had a nervous breakdown a few months ago, she was admitted into a hospital for a week, but she refused to take her medicine after she got out and now shes having paranoia again, crying spells, not eating, basically not herself at all, she will not go to the doctor, what can or should I do? It is so hard just sitting back and not doing anything, but you can’t force someone to go, I have tried countless times to talk to her and even make her feel guilty for doing this to her family, thanks!

A family intervention needs to take place soon to help your Mom. She may need some in house treatment to get her evaluated and started on the proper meds etc. This is going to be a hard choice for all concerned, but it’s the only way to get your Mom back on the road to recovery, and back to her life and be able to enjoy the people that love her. Take care, and all the best. SW FNP
