Is it funny or frightening listening to the tea party protesters try to speak for themselves?

At first I was rolling listening to these poor confused people, but then it struck home that they are angry and riled up enough to be motivated to protest something they themselves state they have no basis for other than emotion.
Should I feel sorry for them and direct my righteous anger at the people manipulating them, or be angry at the tea par tiers for spreading distrust and paranoia without having just cause?
Maybe is the States had higher taxes it wouldn’t be such a shit place to live.
