Torrent Paranoia

Google Page Rank is not Important

Are you obsessed by your web site’s Google page rank. Are you consumed by the number that little green bar says your web site is worth. Do you think an increasing Google page rank is the key to more traffic than your server can handle and also to untold riches. If you have answered yes you may well be suffering from what I call Page Rank Paranoia. You may need help.

Despite all your unswerving efforts to protect and grow your precious page rank to the exclusion of all else, have the results of your dogged pursuit of a higher page rank from good old google actually resulted in nothing but a torrent of traffic to your site and a high position in search results. I’ll wager it has not.

There is much more to effective promotion of your web site than relying on the perception that a high google page rank automatically means an excellent positioning for your site in the search engine rankings. Of course it is nice to have that little green bar progressing further and further towards the right. It makes you feel good but does it really matter. I suggest to you that it does not.

Instead of developing Page Rank Paranoia and taking all consuming measures to increase the page rank of your web site take a step back and consider all the other promotional opportunities you are missing out on. Promotional opportunities which can increase traffic to your site regardless of page rank. Ask yourself what is most important to you. Is it a nice page rank or traffic to your web site. Do not concentrate on the former to the exclusion of the latter.

Link exchanges are still an effective way of drawing traffic. Don’t automatically reject that link exchange request because the webmaster asking you about the link exchange has a lower page rank that you. He might just be starting out and you can help him on his way by exchanging links if you want to. Just think back to when you were in that position.

There are other things you can do straight away to help your search engine relevance. For example your meta tags by making sure they are highly relevant to the subject matter of your web site, including your URL in forum posting and all the other tried and tested old chestnuts of web site promotion. And yes that includes article marketing.

So my suggestion to you is to ignore that google page rank and do not get hung up about it. Turn your mind to other ways to promote your web site and you may be pleasantly surprised by the results.

Watching this director’s cut, it’s finally possible to see why the studio made Spielberg mercilessly hack up this comedy: it’s a screaming movie (everyone screams a lot), and screaming movies do not need character development. So all those character-development scenes hit the cutting-room floor and, surprise, they were all critical to Spielberg’s pace for the humor in this film. The screaming wasn…

Summer of Sam

Summer of Sam

$9.99

It’s important to note that Spike Lee’s drama is not titled Son of Sam. Summer of Sam doesn’t chronicle the killer as much as the times: the blistering hot summer of 1977 when the Big Apple’s psyche was taken hostage by the lone gunman. We spot the killer (Michael Badalucco) in his mad ramblings, but the film centers on two friends from the Bronx: Vinny and Ritchie (John Leguizamo, Adrien Brody)….

Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar

Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar

$14.91

Fifty years after his death, Stalin remains a figure of powerful and dark fascination. The almost unfathomable scale of his crimes–as many as 20 million Soviets died in his purges and infamous Gulag–has given him the lasting distinction as a personification of evil in the twentieth century. But though the facts of Stalin’s reign are well known, this remarkable biography reveals a St…
